April 5, 2023: We've created a Hogwarts Legacy breeding guide.

In Hogwarts Legacy, aside from being able to capture and tame beasts, you can also breed them to sell for some extra cash. Make sure you know where to find all the beasts, and complete the prior quests before being able to do so. We've provided a full Hogwarts Legacy breeding guide right below.

Before breeding your beasts, make sure you've unlocked the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy. Besides that, you'll need to have access to the Nap-Sack, Vivarium, and Breeding Pen to be able to keep your beasts.

How to breed all beasts in Hogwarts Legacy

Breeding beasts in Hogwarts Legacy take a few steps before you can get to do it. Make sure to follow this guide step-by-step, so you can complete all the requirements needed to easily breed your magical beasts.

To start off, you'll need to get the Room of Requirement from its titled quest. You'll be using this room to make potions, store your beasts, and more. Then, you'll obtain the Nab-Sack from the The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom quest, so you can learn how to capture beasts.

This eventually leads to starting to unlock the Vivariums through The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom quest. All the different magical beast species you can capture are found here below:

  • Graphorn
  • Diricawl
  • Thestral
  • Kneazle
  • Mooncalf
  • Fwooper
  • Niffler
  • Jobberknoll
  • Giant Purple Toad
  • Unicorn
  • Hippogriff
  • Puffskein
  • Phoenix (note that they cannot be bred)

Next, you need to complete the Plight of a House Elf and the Charles Rookwood's Trial side quests. When you finish them, you'll get The Foal of the Dead from Deek the House Elf. This quest is basically a tutorial for both capturing and breeding beasts, as it will require you to capture male and female versions of a beast species.

This means you'll need the Breeding Pen spellcraft, which is the ability to conjure a Breeding Pen. This can be bought at Tomes and Scrolls in Hogsmeade. With that, you'll be able to actually start breeding your magical beasts. You'll start with the Thestral via the side quest. Capture first both a male and female species of the Thestral. Make sure you check their beast info to check if they are a male or a female.

After capturing your beasts, you can then select the male and female species to be placed in a Vivarium from your Nab-Sack. This in turn will lead you to the option of starting the breeding process.

You must first approach the sign outside the Breeding Pen, and then you'll select the beasts that are placed down to breed. Afterwards, you'll need to wait for around 30 minutes for your beasts to produce offspring.

While waiting, you can do some other quests first, and go back to the breeding pen later. Also, take note that you can breed four pairs of beasts per Vivarium. Make sure you have enough space, and your beasts aren't crowded before you breed your magical beasts.

With that, you now know how to breed all your beasts in Hogwarts Legacy. While you're still here, check out other guides such as how to get seeds in Hogwarts Legacy, how to find side quests in Hogwarts Legacy, and how to get Venomous Tentacula in Hogwarts Legacy.
